You can drastically change the look of your wheels with a
nice set of trim rings for your car. So
what are trim rings exactly? They are
basically stainless steel rings that will snap onto the outer edge of your
wheels, to change the look and feel of your car. They are offered in many sizes and styles and
can be an inexpensive way to customize or complete your car's look.
Trim rings are especially popular to enthusiasts who are
looking to restore an older model vehicle.
Combined with a matching set of hubcaps or wheel covers, trim rings are
often the finishing touch for updating or enhancing an automobile's look.
Choosing the Right Size
Choosing the right size trim rings for your car is not a
difficult task, but an important one.
You simply need to be able to determine your wheel size. This can be done by taking a look at your
tires. On the side, you should be able
to find a set of numbers and letters, such as "P205/60 R15" or
something to that extent. What is
important when measuring wheel size are the two numbers following the letter
"R". So in the example
provided earlier, the number "15" would be the size, so a 15 inch
trim ring would be required for a car with this particular wheel size.
Installation
Installing trim rings on your wheels is a fairly easy
process. The first thing you need to do
is clean the wheel with some form of tar and wax remover. If you would like to paint the trim rings
another color, be sure to clean the wheel fairly well before applying any
paint. Secondly, it is recommend that
you install your trim rings with the wheels off, although this is not
required. Simply place the trim ring on
the wheel, then set the outer clip prongs over the wheel lip. Apply pressure to the center prong, pushing
it towards the center of your wheel using a screwdriver while pressing down
with the palm of your hand above the clip.
Trim rings are designed to snap into place, so it should be a fairly
simple process.
Now you have your trim rings installed and your car should
be looking great. Pair your trim rings
with a nice set of hubcaps or wheel covers to complete the look and you should
be all set!
